RISING FROM THE ASHES, A GARDEN OF HOPE

December 2019, I received a visit from a close friend of ours who is a board member at the WIAF.

A fire had ripped through the headquarters of the West Island Assistance Fund. It was 2 weeks before Christmas, and the toys gathered for the children, the offices, and headquarters, computers, the thrift shop everything had been destroyed.

The building that stood and supported so many residents for well over 50 years was gone. It all went up in flames and was reduced to ashes. Luckily their food bank that is housed in another building down the block was spared.

Our friend had tears in his eyes when he said that they would rebuild and rise again to serve the most vulnerable in our communities. Sure enough they delivered on their promise.

Nathalie Tanguay the coordinator of the Community Garden Project explained that this pilot project was introduced this past spring to bring hope, purpose and life back into the communities spirits, and to encourage all the residents that depend on it to have a greater respect and appreciation for the land, by nurturing the soils that in turn nourishes them.

This pilot project has surpassed all expectations, and the organization plans to expand on it introducing a little picnic area and play area for the families and residents of the community to enjoy together.

I could not help but admire the creative art corner that stands so proudly before the sitting area. I could so easily envision young and old sitting side by side, chatting, creating, discovering, and belonging to this very special space.

This beautiful garden of hope and all other community projects supported by the WIAF has been made possible through the generous donations from members of the community like yourselves.

This Saturday September 11th, Marie Mady Holistic Therapies, in collaboration with the Revelation Holistic Center is hosting The Holistic Art & Wellness FAIR.

Part of the proceeds from the FAIR will be donated to the WIAF to help them with their community initiatives and outreach programs.

Please donate what you are able to, and please bring along some non perishable foods for our collection boxes for their food bank.
For Donations over $20. Please send them directly to the WIAF

Please come enjoy yourselves, have a good time and help us support the most vulnerable in our communities. Love & Light Marie.❤️✨
